Room 8 in science are learning about life cycle of a pumpkin and we carved our pumpkin

Ask me what we found in room 8? Our pumpkin had become a Jack-O-Lantern!

We also read the book,

Ask me about this book...

Talking about the bones in our body we made

Today our little scientists in room 8 were curious, what we were going to do with the gooey stuff that we scooped out    .....
We separated the seeds  from the "icky stuff"  and did some exploration and math

We observed that seeds looked big when we put them under the magnifying glass!

We estimated how many seeds.....  101, zillion, 15, 25 and 10....
                                                         Ask me about it....

We looked for letter Pp in our Kindergarten community

We also made letter Pp with our bodies
We made an upper case P

Today in room 3 we talked and wrote about pumpkins and how they grow.
Ask me how a pumpkin grows..

During centers, Hamid and Liam made a guessing game of which tin had the most shapes inside. They tricked me both times!

Dhruv started to count the puppets, how great to use your number skills!

Room 3 in their costumes!
What a fun looking group.

We read the book GO AWAY, BIG GREEN MONSTER because we love it so much!
Ask me what happens when we tell the monster to go away (he goes away little by little).

Wednesday 29 October 2014

Today we started learning about letter Pp by reading this book,

Ask me what sound does letter Pp make  /p/

How many p in the word pumpkin

We also talked about how we grow pumpkins?

We observed how our pumpkin looked like..?
                                                           Ask me about it

Using our 5 senses to feel the pumpkin

We came up with a few words 'It's bumpy,"  "Its tipping," "cold"
"Has curvy lines,"         "bumps"
"rough stem"         "wide"     "gooey"

We draw what we see, looking at all the details

We talked about the printing process. How words have finger spaces

See us observe, draw and print
Courtnee, " I like Pumpkins."                   Zac, " Pumpkins pumpkins, I like
                                                           pumpkins."

Elliana, " Tipping, cold. I like pumpkins. It  was bumpy." Haneen, "I like pumpkins."

Omar, " I like pumpkins."                                Carlos, " I like my pumpkin."

Madison, " My pumpkin is tipping and tall."   Mason, " It had mud and was big."
Raiyan, " It was cold."                                Gabby, " I like pumpkin cold."
Matthew, "I draw lines on my pumpkin."   Amira, " I like pumpkin. It was tipping.
                                                             It was cold and bumpy."
We also read the book,

                                          Ask me about this book......
When we carve a pumpkin...... what is called?

        We learned 2 songs today,

Ask me how our bones are connected
in our body. What would happen if we had no bones....
Ask me to sing them for you..
We counted the Jack-O-Lantern's

We decided how we want to carve our pumpkin

Ask me about the shape, what I felt?

We made a graph to decide what kind of eyes, mouth and nose we wanted to carve

We came up with words, " slimy, spider web, seeds, icky, sticky, gooey"
I can see two words rhyming

Ask me about my exploration!
